The Russia-Canada match at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing began an hour later than planned due to the delay in the results of tests for covid by the Russian team. As a result, the athletes took to the ice in medical masks.

According to Interfax, the Canadian hockey players were late with access to the ice in the match against the Team of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).

“The Canadian women's team is still not on the ice. The match has been postponed indefinitely. We are waiting for the decision of the judges, ”the ROC said.

The match was supposed to start at 7:10 Moscow time, but the Canadians refused to play until they got acquainted with the results of the test of the Russians for COVID-19.

As the Dozhd TV channel notes *, as a result, the game was postponed for an hour, and then the athletes decided to go on the ice in medical masks.

Due to the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, based on the investigation of the doping scandal at the Sochi 2014 Games, the Russian team performs under the symbols of the Russian Olympic Committee. Russians are prohibited from using national symbols, the flag and the anthem as a punishment for doping.

So far, the ROC team takes first place in the overall medal standings. The Russians have two gold medals brought by figure skaters and skier Alexander Bolshunov.
