Polina Bolgaryova, forward of the Russian women's ice hockey team at the Beijing Olympics, has contracted COVID-19, head coach Yevgeny Bobariko said.

"We arrived at the Olympic village after the match with Canada and found out that Polina tested positive for coronavirus. I don’t know how this happens”, - the coach told a RIA Novosti correspondent.

At the same time, he did not specify how Bolgaryova feels.

At the Olympics, the hockey player played three matches and scored three goals.

On the eve, we recall, the hockey players of the Russian Olympic team Victoria Kulishova, Angelina Goncharenko and Yelena Dergachyova passed positive tests for COVID-19.

Earlier it was reported that in the group stage match of the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, the Russian women's hockey team lost to the Canadians 1:6.

Initially, the Canadian team refused to go on the ice without studying the morning covid tests of the Russians. The match started an hour late. Athletes had to go on the ice in medical masks.
