Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina (pictured) became the winner of the WTA 500 category tournament in San Jose. In the final, the Russian beat the American Shelby Rogers.

The victory in the tournament allowed Kasatkina to return to the top 10 in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings and climb to 9th for the first time.

The match between Kasatkina and Rogers ended with the score 6:7 (2:7), 6:1, 6:2. Before the end of the tournament, the Russian woman was ranked 12th in the WTA rankings, and her counterpart was in 45th place. Another Russian woman reached the semi-finals of the tournament - Veronika Kudermetova, who is on the 18th line of the rating.

Sunday was also marked by the victory of Russia's Lyudmila Samsonova in the final of the Washington Open (WTA 250 category tournament) over Estonian tennis player Kaia Kanepi. The victory in the tournament allowed her to rise immediately by 18 lines - to the 60th place in the WTA rankings.
