The state allocated 20 billion rubles for the four-year training of Russian athletes for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. This was announced by the Minister of Sports of Russia Oleg Matytsin, noting that the representatives of the national team performed successfully.

“Effective work of federal and regional centers has been organized. The total amount of government funding from 2017 to 2021 amounted to about 20 billion rubles", - leads TASS words Matytsin.

Recall that the Russian national team took fifth place in the medal standings of the Olympics. The athletes managed to win 20 gold, 28 silver and 23 bronze medals. Matytsin called this result successful. According to him, the athletes "confirmed the high level".

The USA team became the leader of the Olympic Games-2020 medal standings. In second place is China, in third place is Japan.

Note that the Olympic champions from Russia received 4 million rubles each from the state, silver medalists - 2.5 million rubles each, bronze - 1.7 million rubles each.
