Russian skier Alexander Bolshunov finished second in the 115 km classic time trial at the Beijing Olympics. The athlete lost to the Finnish representative Iivo Niskanen by 23.2 seconds. The Norwegian Johannes Klebo won the bronze medal.

Today's silver is the second medal in the account of the Russian skier. Recall that February Bolshunov brought the first medal to the Russian team - gold in the skiathlon. The second was another Russian Denis Spitsov, who won silver.

Note that, despite the fall at the start, Bolshunov was able to overcome the distance in 1 hour 16 minutes 9.8 seconds. British skier Andrew Musgrave said that the victory of the Russians with a minute advantage is incredible.

By the way, on February 10, the head of the National Guard, Viktor Zolotov, ahead of schedule awarded Bolshunov and Spitsov the captain's rank. Prior to that, both athletes had the rank of senior lieutenant.

Now the team of the Russian Olympic Committee has 12 medals: two gold, four silver and six bronze.
