The order on payments to the Olympians was signed by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin.

“Similar prizes are provided for the winners and prize-winners of the upcoming Summer Paralympic Games”, - Interfax reports.

The prizes will also be given to mentors who have trained the champions and prize-winners of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

On August 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on awarding athletes with state medals and orders.

Synchronized swimmers were awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky: three-time Olympic champions Alexandra Patskevich and Alla Shishkina, as well as seven-time Olympic champion Svetlana Romashina. The Order of Honor was awarded to gymnast Denis Ablyazin, fencer Inna Deriglazova, wrestler Abdulrashid Sadulaev, as well as synchronized swimmers Maria Shurochkina, Vlada Chigireva and Svetlana Kolesnichenko.

Another 26 Russian Olympians who have won gold medals have been awarded the Order of Friendship. In addition to them, gymnast Dina Averina, who won a silver medal in individual all-around, received an award of the same dignity. At the same time, representatives of the Russian Olympic Committee filed an appeal against her grades in connection with the oddities of refereeing: Averina was given a "silver" despite the fact that she completed her program without a single mistake, and the Israeli Lina Ashram, who took first place, made a gross mistake in the final - the loss of an object Despite this, the scores of the 13-time world champion Dina Averina were 0.15 points lower than the scores of the less titled Ashram. After that, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, accused the gymnastics judges of forgery.

The rest of the Russian athletes who won silver and bronze were awarded medals of the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, II and I degrees.

The US team won the most medals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, with 39 gold, 41 silver and 33 bronze medals. China is in second place (38-32-18), in third place is Japan (27-14-17). Russia has the fifth place (20 gold, 28 silver and 23 bronze awards). Taking into account the size of payments and the number of medals, the budget will spend 189.1 million rubles on awards for the Olympians.

Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo were held from 22 to 8 August with a one-year delay due to the coronavirus pandemic. These were the most expensive games in the history of the Olympic movement. Due to covid restrictions, the competitions were held without spectators. To create an effect of support for the athletes, audio recordings of audience applause, preserved from previous tournaments, were included.
