News coming from the Russian Olympic Committee on the eve of the Tokyo Games amuses social media users.

In anticipation of the Summer Olympics, which will soon begin in Tokyo, more and more cheerful news comes from the Russian national team, which, as we know, will not be able to play at the Games under the national flag due to doping scandals. So social networks are discussing mascots that are made especially for our team: a blue Teddy bear and a white Hat-cat. Animated images of them appeared on the Instagram of the national Olympic Committee on Wednesday.

It also explains that each talisman has its own character. So, in the Olympic Committee, Mishka is called a merry fellow and a lover of jokes, while the cat is described as a serious and solid character who “can sometimes, of course, joke, but always kindly”.

The Russian Olympic Committee added that the mascots will help maintain accounts during the Games.

Users of social networks disagreed in the assessments of these characters: "Better return Cheburashka", "100% will become popular with foreigners!", "Who invented this?" ...

Popular blogger Vera Afanasyeva remembered Sergey Yesenin's lines in connection with Shapko-Cat:

"They made a hat out of that cat

And my grandfather wore it out ... "

And she added from herself: “A hat for the Summer Olympic Games? Original, in our opinion. "

Journalist Kirill Shulika was even more critical:

“To create the mascots of the Russian Olympic team (formally the ROC team, because of doping, no Russia), apparently, was entrusted to the patients of the narcological clinic. She won the tender ... "

Novye Izvestia has already reported that in addition to talismans, the Russian Olympians will be provided with a special training manual so that they will “correctly” answer provocative questions.

Here are the answers to some questions:

About politics. "No comment" - the ROC called this answer the easiest way out of this situation.

On the Black Lives Matter movement. The athlete must say that the attitude towards BLM is everyone's personal business. “But the Olympics, in any case, should not become a platform for any actions and gestures”, - the ROC recommends to answer.

About Crimea and Donbass. It is recommended not to discuss it, since "sport should remain outside politics."

About doping scandals in Russian sports. The Olympians may reply that they have nothing to say about this, since they have never participated in them, and those who introduced them should comment on the sanctions against Russia.

About harassment. “I have never encountered this in my career, but I know that such a problem exists in many countries”, - was the answer suggested by the ROC.

About the performance of Russian athletes not under the flag of the country. Athletes should answer that they still represent their homeland, although they would like to hear the national anthem of Russia (the First Concert of Pyotr Tchaikovsky will play instead).

How can we not recall the famous song by Vladimir Vysotsky about a Soviet worker who was fabulously lucky: the authorities decided to reward him for his labor achievements for the good of the socialist homeland with a trip abroad, to one of the countries of the so-called people's democracy, that is, in fact, a vassal. But even in order to travel to a fraternal country, in the USSR it was necessary to undergo instructions from the district committee of the CPSU. Vysotsky and describes this procedure:

There they have, for now, it’s better to live

So that I do not teach the wrong one

He gave me the brochure to read as a mandate,

So that he does not try to live there foolishly, like ours.

He spoke to me like a brother about the insidious abroad

About a trip to the Democrats in the Polish city of Budapest.

"There they have a special way of life, we just do not understand.

You already, brother, try to respect them a little.

There will be a debate with vodka, answer

"No, Democratic guys, just tea!"

Turn away sternly from their gifts.

Like, they themselves have such heaps of good..."

Well, in the meantime, the doping saga continues: the International Swimming Federation has temporarily suspended Russian swimmers Veronica Andrusenko and Alexander Kudashev for violating anti-doping rules.

The Russians were temporarily suspended on the basis of WADA data obtained from the RUSADA database. The one that they decided to tweak a little.

Both athletes were included in our Olympic team. But now everyone will return home from Tokyo...
