In the regional clinical hospital of Krasnoyarsk, the legendary wrestling coach Dmitry Mindiashvili, who had been in intensive care since Thursday, died.

"Dmitry Georgievich Mindiashvili died", - the Ministry of Sports of the Krasnoyarsk Territory reported.

The department clarified that pneumonia became the cause of death of the athlete.

Dmitry Mindiashvili created in 1973 the first in Siberia and the Far East Krasnoyarsk school of higher sportsmanship in types of wrestling. In 2008, it was reorganized into a wrestling academy and named after its creator.

Many outstanding wrestlers were his pupils, including two-time Olympic champion Mvan Yarygin, three-time Olympic champion Buvaysar Saytiev, Olympic champion Sagid Murtazaliyev.

Dmitry Mindiashvili became the first Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
