The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Friday, February 25, called on all sports organizations to cancel or postpone all competitions to be held in Russia and Belarus.

The reason is the violation by these states of the Olympic truce by the events in Ukraine.

“The IOC itself does not plan any events in Russia or Belarus”, - the committee assured.

In addition, the Executive Committee urged not to fly the national flag of Russia or Belarus and not to perform the anthems of these countries at international competitions that are not part of the relevant World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) sanctions against Russia.

It should be noted that against the backdrop of the start of Russia's military special operation in Ukraine, the UEFA Executive Committee decided to move the Champions League final from St. Petersburg to Paris. In addition, the organizers of Formula 1 racing announced the cancellation of the Russian stage of the World Championship. The organizers of the World Chess Olympiad 2022 also announced the cancellation of competitions in Russia.

New York canceled concerts of Matsuev and Gergiev as "Putin's close associates". Meanwhile, in Russia, Ivan Urgant's program was taken off the air after his statements about the war.
