The site of Roskachestvo (Russian quality system) publishes material that on these quarantine days concerns literally everyone: where can you legally and safely download movies to watch so as not to be known as a "pirate". It is no secret that Russia is one of the world leaders in the number of visits to pirated sites. Our compatriots are very fond of illegally copying and distributing copyrighted video products that are helpfully provided to them by pirated sites, and especially often “torrent trackers”. “Torrent” is a network protocol in which a server (tracker) coordinates the actions of computers that exchange information with each other, rather than with a legitimate data source.
Typically, pirated resources distribute video in the following formats:
Roskachestvo experts warn about the consequences of illegal downloading of video content.
Firstly, this is the risk of infecting a computer with a malicious program and giving cybercriminals access to personal data, the ability to monitor you, perform various actions on the Web on your behalf, steal money from your bank accounts, blackmail and so on ...
If you inadvertently click on one of the many banners that often accompany such broadcasts, or, say, update Flash Player on the recommendation of a pirated resource, a virus will appear in your computer that can use your computer as a puppet, a bot for attacks.
And this is not to mention the legal responsibility that users bear on pirated content. Since 2013, in judicial practice of the Russian Federation, convictions have been found for distributing films and illegal copies of software on torrent trackers under Part 2 of Art. 146 of the Criminal Code, according to which previously only citizens who physically sold discs with counterfeit products were tried. Judicial practice equates torrent files with copyright infringement , so creating distributions on torrent trackers can lead to a criminal case.
It provides for the law and the possibility of bringing to responsibility for downloading films and music - this may entail the responsibility of a citizen under clause 7.12 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (copyright infringement if the total cost of damage exceeds 100 thousand rubles) and Art. 1270 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation (unfair use).
True, in the case of individuals in the Russian Federation, there are practically no cases of liability for downloading illegal files to a personal computer (unlike cases of using pirated software in companies), but it must be clearly understood that any storage of obviously pirated content is illegal.
Instead of pirated ones, experts recommend the following services for legal and safe viewing of movies and TV shows:
It’s worth paying for high-quality content, because behind it is the work of professionals who have invested resources and soul in giving you pleasure from viewing, they are sure.
“It seems to us that when we find films on pirated sites, we don’t pay anything, but sometimes the price may be too high - we lose personal data and valuable time. Is it worth it? Everyone decides for himself. And, of course, our beloved “maybe blows” does not disappear anywhere...”,- experts conclude.
