Handball instead of space: while the ISS is falling apart, Rogozin became interested in sports

Against the background of talks about the imminent closure of the International Space Station, the head of Roscosmos criticizes capitalism and is going to build a handball arena.

The Energia rocket and space corporation announced the threat of serious breakdowns on the ISS and offered to withdraw from the program. According to Solovyov, First Deputy Director of RSC Energia, “already now there are a number of elements that are seriously affected by damage and are going out of service”. “After 2025, we predict an avalanche failure of numerous elements on board the ISS”, - he said. Just until 2025, Russia has obligations to participate in the ISS program.

RSC Energia claims that Russia is spending too much on the ISS. The circumstances are such that "a lot" is 10-15 billion rubles a year. The ISS will expire in 2024. Energia proposes to curtail cooperation and create a national station.

True, the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, believes that despite the fact that the shelf life of some of the modules of the International Space Station has already expired, there is no reason to refuse it. “I think it's too early to write off the station”, - he said.

Rogozin confirmed that some of the ISS modules "significantly" exceeded their 15-year warranty. At the same time, according to him, the Soviet-Russian manned orbital station Mir also had similar problems. “At the Mir station, we also had to decommission some of the modules, but this did not become a reason for conclusions about the aging of the entire station,” Rogozin believes.

This news, of course, did not go unnoticed by experts. So, the publicist Anatoly Nesmiyan writes:

“The likelihood that the ISS may cease to exist in the foreseeable future is quite real. The USA and Russia may simply not pull the further program of its use and exploitation.

Against this background, China intends in the next ten years to build a base on the moon, and a base inhabited, where astronauts will be on a permanent basis.

The Chinese are quite pragmatic in their assessment of the problems of near-earth stations and have decided to take a fundamentally different path.

It is difficult to say which of the concepts - orbital stations or stationary bases - will turn out to be more viable and more competitive, but, most likely, in any case, we will have to wash down other people's successes with "Let's go" vodka, jumping on trampolines painted under Khokhloma. Well, and, of course, sprinkled with holy water. How without this...".

The Boilernaya channel experts believe that the break in cooperation will be bad for everyone:

“But who is worse, given the domestic achievements in electronics of the past 30 years? Consultations with NASA on the future of the station will begin in January next year. They are trying to cut funding for Rogozin, and, perhaps with promises to catch up and overtake the Americans in space, they will try to beg the country's leadership for a larger budget. Its own station will cost Russia more than participation in the ISS, but, most importantly, who will sit on the distribution of this money..."

But analysts of another popular channel "Methodichka" link Rogozin's media activity in recent weeks "with the preparation of an alternate airfield".

“Funding for the space sector is declining, the ISS is aging, as the officials of Roscosmos themselves are already talking about. There is a threat in the coming years to lag behind the United States, not only in words, but also in deeds. Today it became known about the arrest of another employee of the Roscosmos enterprise, which was building the Vostochny cosmodrome - the corruption plume continues to drag.

At the same time, Rogozin floods the media with insignificant news feeds, which are designed to divert attention from the essence of the activities of Roscosmos. Rogozin declares that he is against capitalism, sues for libel, evaluates videos about Mars. Rogozin is in a hurry to crush non-core construction and media projects. For example, at the Khrunichev plant in Moscow, workers are forced to collect signatures for the construction of Rogozin's big expensive toy, a handball arena that is opposed by local residents and athletes.

Rogozin's current task is to manage to launch non-core projects to the stage when they cannot be canceled, to patch up the image of a socialist statesman, and to escape before the rockets and the ISS began to fall. To escape at least to the State Duma, best of all to the Federation Council. To a place where he will not be responsible for the dips in space..."

And journalist Andrey Zbarsky drew attention to Rogozin's truly ridiculous criticism of capitalism:

“The head of Roscosmos called capitalism the worst thing that was created by people. He also called himself an opponent of capitalism and called for making the building of a "state of social equality" a national goal for Russia.

It is worth clarifying that:

- The income of the head of Roscosmos is 44.1 million rubles a year.

- The income of the head of NASA is 17.5 million rubles a year.

- The salary of a design engineer at the Makeev SRC is 24,000 rubles a month.

- Salary of a SpaceX engineer - from 494,000 rubles per month.

Personally, I believe that when individuals like Rogozin begin to speak out about how good socialism is, the attitude towards socialism as a phenomenon will only get worse. And this is good. We have already seen the consequences of socialism. It is impossible to make it correct...".
