Japanese Scientists Develop Lifetime Vaccine Against COVID-19

According to Kommersant, citing Japanese media, the Nobelpharma pharmaceutical corporation plans to begin clinical trials of the vaccine in 2023. The initial basis of the drug will be the smallpox vaccine. According to preliminary information, the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus will be included in the recombinant vaccinia virus.

The Japanese press claims that such a vaccine could give patients lifelong immunity. It has already been announced that a single dose of this vaccine retains its antiviral effect for more than 20 months.

Japan is currently using vaccines from Pfizer, BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca in a public vaccination campaign.
