"You'll have to wait ..." The delivery of German air defense systems to Ukraine will take several months

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of this country, Annalena Burbock, explained that the manufacturing company Diehl will supply these weapons to Ukraine not from the warehouses of the Bundeswehr, but directly. Earlier, speaking in the German parliament, Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised to arm Ukraine with these modern air defense systems. He said that with their help, Ukraine will be able to "protect an entire large city from Russian air attacks". In addition, the German leader promised to provide Ukraine with a radar station capable of detecting Russian mortars, howitzers and rocket launchers.

Scholz also said that Germany, in close coordination with America, would also send multiple rocket launchers to Ukraine. Here we were talking about the 227-mm MLRS M142 HIMARS. This American installation has 6 guides and is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 70 km (in the version with the M30 / 31 missile) with high accuracy. Experts explain that in the SLM variant, the IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile system is capable of hitting a target at an altitude of up to 20 km and at a distance of up to 40 km.

IRIS-T SLM was developed by the German company Diehl Defense. This air defense system differs from its counterparts in its vertical launch, which reduces the launch time if the target appears from an unexpected direction - there is no need to deploy the launcher, and in addition, it eliminates the “dead zone funnel” that appears during firing over complexes that launch missiles at an angle.
