As part of a mission to study the lunar surface, the PRC sent its spacecraft to the moon. On December 1, he successfully landed on the surface of an Earth satellite.

According to Reuters, citing Chinese media, the uncrewed mission Chang'e-5 (named after the Chinese moon goddess) aims to collect lunar material to aid scientists. Through the mission, they will be able to learn more about the origin of the natural earth satellite.

It is planned to collect two kilograms of samples from an area that has not been visited before, in the massive lava plain - "Ocean of Storms" (Oceanus Procellarum). The spacecraft that landed on the Moon is known to be one of several spacecraft launched by the Chang'e-5 probe.

Now he has to drill through the soil with a hard-working hand, and then transfer the collected samples of soil and rocks to the lifting apparatus. It will then take off and dock with the orbital module. The collected samples will be sent to the capsule for the return trip to Earth. The capsule will land in Inner Mongolia.

On November 24, China launched a robotic spacecraft to the moon. The probe will stay on the surface of the Earth satellite for about 23 days.

In case of successful completion of the mission, China will be able to become the third country to receive the soil samples from the Moon after the USA and the USSR.

For the first time, we recall, China made a moon landing in 2013. Last year, China's Chang'e-4 probe landed on the far side of the moon - the first such mission in the world.

It is safe to say that China is gaining leadership in the exploration of the moon step by step. Since the late 2000s, China has been successfully developing its lunar program, having already made six launches, leaving two lunar rovers there, and also making one successful return from a lunar orbit.

Meanwhile, Roskosmos announced that they would refrain from participating in the international lunar program. The head of the state corporation Dmitry Rogozin explained this is an excessive "American-centeredness". Previously, he repeatedly voiced various fantasies about the colonization of the Moon and Mars, criticized the US lunar program, said that NASA would not "pull" the creation of a new super-heavy rocket, discussed plans to build a base on the far side of the Moon, planned joint flight to the Earth satellite with the USA. However, all the reasoning remained only fantasies. In reality, the head of Roscosmos criticizes capitalism and is going to build a handball arena...
