According to Belta, the meeting was attended by Chairman of the Council of the Republic Natalia Kochanova, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko, head of the presidential administration of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko and Secretary of State for the Security Council Andrei Ravkov.
Experts note that the change of cabinet is associated with the upcoming presidential elections in Belarus. The head of state determines the composition of the government in advance, “so that people, voting for or against, understand who will be involved in solving pressing issues related to their life, the socio-economic development of the state”, - RBC quotes the Belarusian president.
But Alexander Lukashenko said that there would be no large-scale changes in the composition of the government, including due to crisis phenomena in the global economy in the context of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Those cabinet members who do their job well will retain their seats.
The President of Belarus announced on May 4 that the election of the head of state would definitely be held this summer, despite the situation of coronavirus infection, due to which Belarus did not take special quarantine measures.
