Merkel called Islamic terrorism an universal enemy

“We cannot succumb to hatred, which is aimed at dividing our society”, - the head of the German Foreign Ministry Heiko Maas wrote on Twitter.

The police in the Austrian capital reported a terrorist attack simultaneously in six locations in the city. The shooting began with shots at the synagogue in Seitenstättengasse. In total, about 50 shots were fired. The police shot one of the suspects. Several hijackers managed to escape. The police believe that seven were involved in the execution of the attack.

Earlier in the media there was information that the Austrian intelligence was aware of the killed terrorist. The terrorist killed in Vienna has Albanian roots, but he was born in the Austrian capital, he was 20 years old.
