Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is ready to stop the war in Nagorno-Karabakh if Armenia withdraws its troops from the "occupied territories".

“If the Prime Minister of Armenia takes a commitment to liberate the rest of the territories, then we are ready to stop today. So far he has not undertaken such obligations", - the Italian newspaper La Repubblica quoted Aliyev as saying.

He also recalled that Azerbaijan has already unilaterally liberated four regions. In this regard, Aliyev expects Armenia to withdraw its troops from the territories of Aghdam, Kelbejar and Lachin regions that remained under occupation. “But he [Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan] does not make such a statement. This shows that he does not want to end the war”, - the head of Azerbaijan said.

Let us remind that active hostilities between Azerbaijan and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic supported by Armenia have been going on for over a month. They have become the bloodiest in the past 26 years. Since the beginning of the hostilities, 1,177 servicemen of the Karabakh Defense Army have died, which is almost 1% of the total population.

Several times the parties sat down at the negotiating table, but the armistice agreements reached were immediately violated. On October 31, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that if the conflict affects the lands of Armenia itself, the Russian Federation will provide it with military assistance. At the same time, the department once again called on the parties to end the war.
