According to a NATO representative in an interview with the German newspaper Die Welt, it is not Ukraine, but Russia that is destabilizing the situation in the Black Sea region. The resumed hostilities here were the subject of discussion at a meeting of 30 NATO ambassadors.

“Allies share concerns about Russia's large-scale military action in and around Ukraine. The allies are also concerned that Russia violated the ceasefire agreement of July 2020, which resulted in the deaths of four Ukrainian soldiers last week, ”the Dozhd TV channel quoted a NATO spokesman as saying following the meeting.

The aggravation of the conflict in Donbass began at the end of March 2021. The reason was the statement of Kiev that during the confrontation in the combat zone, four Ukrainian soldiers were killed. These losses are the highest since the summer of 2020.

NATO was particularly concerned about the large-scale deployment of Russian troops to the Ukrainian conflict zone. According to The New York Times, the total number of personnel redeployed by Russia to the border with Ukraine has reached 4,000 people. In response to Western concerns about the pulling together of the Russian army to the Ukrainian border, the Kremlin retorted that the movement of the Russian military on the territory of the country "should not bother anyone".

Meanwhile, in the conflict area, cases of shelling and drone attacks have become more frequent, from which, including civilians, suffer. On the eve of the RF IC opened a criminal case based on media reports on the death of a five-year-old boy on the territory of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and the injury of his 66-year-old grandmother during the shelling. Russia accused the Ukrainian military of attacking civilians.
