Siegfried Muresan, Chairman of the Parliamentary Association Committee of the European Union - Moldova, wrote about this on his page on the social network.
As follows from the resolution, the EU must accept this country as a member, since the country shares the values of this union, and has also done a lot to enter this organization. This work must be continued.
MEPs urged the European Commission to "evaluate the application" of this country as soon as possible. To me, depending on what the decision is, the Moldovan authorities are in any case on the right track, implementing key reforms in the field of democracy and human rights, the document says.
Despite the decision, the deputies call on the EU countries to provide financial support to this country, as well as to simplify the rules for foreign economic trade with the union for it.
It's worth reminding that the Moldovan authorities filed an application for accession to the EU in early March this year. The move follows Ukraine and Georgia, which have also filed such applications. Last week, the Moldovan authorities sent to Brussels the first package of documents describing the economic situation in the country in various sectors. The second and third package of documents will be sent in the near future.
