Earlier it was reported that the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, designed to supply natural gas from Russia to Europe along the bottom of the Baltic Sea, was fully completed on September 10, 2021.

The project was planned to be completed by January 1, 2020. However, it was opposed by the US, which has its own economic interests in the EU. The US authorities have imposed economic sanctions on companies associated with the project. Because of this, the construction was greatly delayed.

The gas pipeline consists of two lines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters. m per year. Its task is to provide warmth to the inhabitants of Germany. Now, while the pipeline has not officially put into operation due to delays in the certification, the EU countries are facing a shortage of energy resources and sharp jumps in prices for natural gas.
