Participants of the Sunday protest in Kishinev (Chisinau) adopted a resolution demanding the resignation of the government and the holding of early parliamentary elections.

“We, citizens of Moldova, at a protest rally demand the immediate resignation of the government of Ion Chicu, we demand an early parliamentary election, since it has completely lost its legitimacy and no longer represents the interests of Moldovan citizens. If the authorities ignore our legal demands, then we reserve the right to use all legal methods to resist the seizure of power”, - the text of the resolution reported to RIA Novosti.

The authors of the resolution also demanded to annul the laws adopted this week by the coalition of the incumbent president of the republic, Igor Dodon, and the chairman of the Shor party, Ilan Shor. In particular, the Moldovan parliament cut the president's powers, removing the Information and Security Service from the head of the republic.

The protesters blame the government for the catastrophic socio-economic situation in the country, as well as for ineffective measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

More than 50 thousand people took part in today's event. In addition, the police did not allow many interested persons, including farmers, to enter Kishinev. According to Interfax, the protest action lasted two hours and ended peacefully.

Let us recall that during the second round of the presidential elections in Moldova, which took place on November 15, Maia Sandu won. She later called on citizens to take part in a protest and demand the resignation of the government. The inauguration of the president is due on December 24.

Earlier it was reported about how the protest action is taking place on the Great National Assembly Square in the center of Chisinau.
