On November 8, at the age of 77, the former leader and founder of the Scottish rock band Nazareth, Dan McCafferty, died, bass player Peter Agnew said.

"Dan died today (Tuesday) at 12:40. This is the saddest announcement I have ever had to make”, - Agnew wrote on his social media page.

McCafferty left the band in 2013 due to a lung condition.

Recall that Nazareth was created in 1968 by members of The Shadettes in Dunfermline. In 1971 they moved to London where the band's debut album was recorded. The very next year, Deep Purple invited Nazareth to play their opening act on their debut tour. This helped the team to succeed.

In total, the group recorded over 20 studio albums and released several live compilations.
