Sergey Lavrov called negotiations with a colleague from Britain "a conversation of the dumb with the deaf"

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented on the course of his talks with British Foreign Minister Liz Truss over Ukraine. He noted that the conversation was like a conversation between a mute and a deaf person.

The head of the Russian diplomatic department got the impression that his Western colleagues either did not get acquainted with the explanation of the Russian position on the Ukrainian issue, or simply decided to ignore it.

“To be honest, I am disappointed that we are succeeding in a conversation between a mute and a deaf. It seems that we are listening, but we are not hearing. At least, our most detailed explanations, in general, fell on unprepared soil”, - commented Sergey Lavrov. His words are quoted by TASS.

Sergey Lavrov noted that it is not only the country itself that declares the absence of plans for Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Pentagon already holds the same opinion. Ukrainian Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky say the same.

The day before, forecasts of international rating agencies came out, which called the military invasion of Ukraine, first of all, not profitable for Russia itself. The international rating agency Moody's, in particular, noted that this would lead to significant military and economic losses, and subsequent sanctions would seriously undermine the country's sovereign ratings.

It's worth reminding that the Western media have been reporting on the planned military invasion since the end of last year. Allegedly, for this purpose, Russia pulled its troops to the Ukrainian borders. In Russia, accusations of plans to unleash a war with Ukraine are denied, noting that the military is on the territory of the country on exercises.

Since the beginning of the year, Russia, the US and NATO have been negotiating security guarantees. Russia demands guarantees from Western partners that the former members of the Soviet Union will not be included in the alliance. NATO refused to guarantee that Ukraine would not be included in the alliance. The United States provided a written response to the position of the Russian side. The response ignored key RF security requirements.
