Press-secretary of department Shushan Stepanyan stated that the dead Russian pilots will be posthumously granted the state awards, reports Interfax.
Let us recall that on November 9, near the village of Yeraskh near the border of Armenia and Nakhichevan, an Armenian enclave, a Russian Mi-24 was shot down. Two servicemen were killed and one was wounded. Azerbaijan stated that the helicopter was shot down by mistake and apologized to the Russian side.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry also clarified that Azerbaijan is ready to pay compensation to Russia for the downed Mi-24 helicopter. Baku stressed that the tragic incident was not directed against the Russian side.
