US President Donald Trump has signed a decree according to which visa sanctions may be imposed on those countries that prevent or delay the return of their citizens in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.

This was reported by the press service of the White House, reports RIA Novosti.

Sanctions will be imposed on "countries that refuse or unreasonably delay the admission of their citizens, subjects, citizens or residents from the United States during the ongoing pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2," the report said.

The decree signed by Trump suggests that the head of the US Department of Homeland Security should bring such cases to the Secretary of State. He, in turn, is obliged to take decisions on imposing sanctions against violating countries within seven days.

Such countries "pose unacceptable public health risks for Americans. The United States should be able to return foreign citizens and nationals, " Kommersant quotes an excerpt from a document that also involves the lifting of sanctions after countries begin to export their citizens again.

The memorandum is valid until the end of this year, but may be extended.

To date, the United States has the most cases of coronavirus in the world - more than 500 thousand. About 19 thousand people have already died in the country.

As stated earlier by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, the Russian authorities will take out all the Russians who find themselves abroad who want to return to their homeland, but first of all they will be tourists who left this year.

The head of government also said that he had instructed the Ministry of Digital Development, Telecommunications and Mass Media to soon launch a special electronic form on a single portal of public services, agreed with all departments, in which the Russian can quickly provide all the necessary information about himself.

When Russia stopped all international flights, it was decided not to export even Russian citizens from abroad, but soon their export resumed and remained the only exception in this situation. Earlier, the Russian government also decided to provide the Russians who were stuck abroad with material assistance so that they could rent housing and buy basic necessities.

The return of Russian citizens from abroad was suspended on April 4 due to possible difficulties in organizing quarantine for arrivals. On April 6, it was resumed. At that time, about 30 thousand Russians were waiting outside Russia for their return home.

Last week, the flight with the Russians from New York was delayed, but later the export flights were resumed, but with restrictions.
