19 people died in Iran as a result of an erroneous missile strike
Iran reported a missile missile launch during the country's Navy exercises, which killed 19 people and injured 15 people.
An anti-caliber missile was launched by mistake during the Iranian naval exercises in the Gulf of Oman. The launch was made from the frigate Jamaran on the auxiliary vessel Konarak, they wrote in Iranian social networks.
Dozens of the wounded and that the ship was towed to the port of Chabahar, was reported on Twitter by the head of the policy department of the Iranian news agency Tansim. An official comment by the Navy was published later.
According to Reuters, Iranian authorities say the ship did not sink. Earlier it was said that the cause of the incident could be an insufficient distance between the vessel and the target.
Konarak could set targets for firing, but in the end the rocket captured a larger target - the ship, and hit it. This was reported by Kommersant, referring to the RSMD expert Ilya Kramnik. According to the expert, the frigate could be armed with Chinese S-802 missiles or their Iranian Noor counterparts.
