South Korea intends to sell one hundred thousand 155-mm artillery shells to the United States for subsequent transfer to Kiev, the deal will be secret, writes The Wall Street Journal, citing its sources.

According to the newspaper, the Pentagon believes that this party should be enough for the Armed Forces of Ukraine for "several weeks" of hostilities. This deal will help the South Korean side not to violate the promise not to supply Ukraine with lethal weapons. The United States will be able not to spend its own stocks of weapons.

In October, we recall, South Korean President Yun Suk-yeol reacted to Vladimir Putin's remark that military assistance to Ukraine would destroy relations between Russia and the Republic of Korea, saying that the republic would not supply lethal weapons to Kiev.

- How would South Korea react if we started supplying weapons to North Korea? Vladimir Putin asked.

In response, the South Korean leader immediately commented, stating:

- Previously, we provided humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, transferred a batch of medicines, but we do not plan to transfer lethal weapons or anything like that to Kiev.
