According to Kommersant , congressmen representing two political parties arrived in Taiwan on October 11. Among them are Republicans Brad Wenstrap and Michael Waltz, Democrats Seth Moulton and Kai Kahil.
The plan of their visit is to discuss with the authorities of Taiwan issues of bilateral relations, cooperation in the economic sphere, as well as the topic of "peace and stability in the region."
In early August, Speaker of the US Congress Nancy Pelosi already flew to Taiwan. Her visit to the island caused outrage in China, which calls Taiwan part of its territory. The PRC authorities are promoting the "One China" policy, which is supported by the leadership of the Russian Federation.
In response to Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, the Chinese authorities held large-scale military exercises with shootings off the coast of the island and imposed sanctions against Pelosi and her family members.
