UK insurance companies have sent an official warning to international aircraft owners that the aircraft insurance required for flights in Ukraine will cease to operate in 48 hours, the Strana.ua portal reports.

According to the publication, the owners of private airliners confirmed receipt of the notification, but foreign carriers (including Swiss and Ryanair) did not stop sales for flights from Kiev.

As Alexander Lanetsky, head of the consulting agency Friendly Avia Support, pointed out, two aspects can affect flights: insurance of leasing aircraft and civil liability insurance of the airline, “without the latter, it is simply impossible to take the planes into the sky”.

- Aircraft insurance is complex and expensive, as a rule, they are provided not by one company, but by several. For example, a Ukrainian air carrier may have insurance from a Ukrainian insurance company, but always with reinsurance in London. If they give a command to curtail, there will be no guarantees for Ukrainian carriers either, - Lanetsky explained.

Earlier, the Dutch airline KLM announced the termination of work in Ukraine. The head of the Insurance Business Association, Vyacheslav Chernyakhovsky, suggested that "we will literally see an empty sky".

- Neither foreign nor Ukrainian carriers will fly. Foreign reinsurers can leave the decision on the guarantee to the insurers, but they are unlikely to take on such responsibility. And airlines are unlikely to risk passengers and aircraft, - said Chernyakhovsky.

Earlier today , rumors were circulating that Ukrainian border guards allegedly did not allow citizens of Russia and Belarus to enter the country. At the same time, the press secretary of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, denied such reports. He pointed out that every day dozens of foreigners are denied entry to cross the border "for various reasons." Among them, he noted, there are citizens of the Russian Federation who are obliged, like everyone else, "to fulfill the conditions of entry before entering the country".
