“Today there were very heavy battles in the northern direction, perhaps one of the most difficult battles of this war”, - Hovhannisyan wrote on his Facebook.

He specified that the troops of the Azerbaijani army went on the offensive using armored vehicles after enhanced artillery preparation.

"Through the efforts of soldiers, reservists and militias, the offensive was stopped", - emphasized the representative of the department.

According to him, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces did not wait for success on the line of contact and are trying to conduct "information operations".

“Sabotage groups quickly infiltrate various settlements to take pictures at various buildings, and then present them as administration buildings”, - Hovhannisyan said.

He also clarified that this is being done for psychological influence on the societies of both countries.

Meanwhile, the death toll in the most unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh republic is growing. On the eve of the NKR Ombudsman Artak Beglaryan spoke about three new victims. The number of victims among civilians thus reached 31 people.

It also became known yesterday that for the first time since the beginning of the conflict on the border of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Iran struck a blow at the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, disrupting their offensive in Karabakh.

The conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh erupted in late September. Azerbaijan considers this territory to be primordially its own, occupied by the Armenian side. Nagorno-Karabakh announced its withdrawal from the Azerbaijan SSR on the eve of the collapse of the union. Since then the position of the territory has remained controversial. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said earlier that he would no longer wait for a peaceful resolution of the dispute , he does not see any other way, except the military one.
