The British newspaper The Sunday Times reported that after an unsuccessful attempt at poisoning with Novichok poison, they tried to poison the Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny a second time, when they were going to transport him to Germany in a coma.

The publication, citing sources, writes that the state security authorities allegedly wanted Navalny to die during the flight to Berlin.

After an unsuccessful first assassination attempt, suspected state security officials attempted to complete the murder with a second dose of poison before it was delivered to a safe place in Berlin”, - the article says.

In addition, the publication says that the poisonous substance got on Navalny's clothes after intelligence agents broke into his hotel room. And in the Omsk hospital, intelligence officers allegedly set up a base in the office of the chief doctor, the authors of the material believe.

Let us recall that more than fifty countries participating in the Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons called on Russia to investigate the poisoning of Navalny.

On December 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the materials of the investigation containing information about the poisoning of Navalny by Novichok had not been received by Russia. According to the head of state, his own verification of information about Navalny's poisoning is ongoing, but it is impossible to initiate a criminal case due to the lack of materials.

Navalny was urgently hospitalized on August 20 with the signs of poisoning. The plane in which the oppositionist was flying urgently landed in Omsk. Navalny spent two days in a hospital in this city. On August 22, Alexey Navalny was taken to a Berlin clinic for treatment. German toxicologists found in his analyzes traces of a chemical warfare agent of the Novichok family, this was confirmed by three more European laboratories, as well as in the OPCW, but experts did not provide confirmation to Moscow.
