The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported on a new shelling of their army positions by Armenian militias, near the city of Shusha, where Russian peacekeepers are stationed.

In response, the Azerbaijani military also opened fire. As stated in the message of the department, no one was killed or injured as a result of the shootout.

"The fire was conducted by illegal Armenian armed detachments located on the territory of Azerbaijan, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed", - the Ministry of Defense of the country specified.

The day before, the Armenian side reported about one soldier killed during a shootout on the border with Azerbaijan. Armenia called the statement that the country opened fire as the first provocation. The country shifted all responsibility for the further aggravation of the situation on the border of the two states to Azerbaijan.

After the war over the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh in the fall of 2020, shootings continue on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
