Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Zhang Ming said that Belarus has officially applied for joining the SCO.

Also, the process of granting the organization's fief status to Iran is nearing completion.

Last month, we recall, the special representative of the President of Russia to the SCO, Bakhtiyor Khakimov, pointed out that the official Minsk appealed to the heads of the organization with a request for an accelerated inclusion of the country in the organization. The proposal was approved by the Council of Ministers of the Republic, but was developed in an interdepartmental format.

The SCO is one of the international organizations whose participation in the activities of the Russian Federation and Belarus was not limited after the start of Moscow's special operation in Ukraine. These organizations also include the CSTO, the CIS and BRICS.

Earlier it became known that Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt are planning to join the BRICS. Moreover, a discussion on Iran, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey can be expected at the next summit in South Africa in 2023, but its exact date has not yet been determined.
