Several thousand people rallied on Tuesday demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Demonstrators marched in a column along the central streets of the city, calling for the minister to be relieved of his post after the signing of the "treacherous agreement" on Nagorno-Karabakh.

The rally was organized by the opposition. Protests in the country have been taking place since the signing of the peace agreement on November 10. According to it, Armenia actually capitulated in the war for the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, giving, in addition to the territories conquered by Azerbaijan, four more regions.

The next opposition rally is scheduled for December 19, reminds Interfax. Previously, former presidents of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Robert Kocharian and Serzh Sargsyan, as well as the current president Armen Sargsyan, also called on Pashinyan to resign. In addition, the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II and the Catholicos of the Great House of Cilician Aram the First also called on Pashinyan to leave his post . However, Pashinyan himself said on Monday that he would not resign before the elections. "I will resign only if the people want it, and until the elections take place, I will continue to fulfill my duties", - he wrote.

Earlier, he also explained that he signed a truce based on data from the front. If he had not done this, then thousands of Armenian soldiers would have been surrounded by the Azerbaijani military the next day.
