The Russian "Sputnik V" vaccine has received official recognition from the Australian Therapeutic Goods Authority (TGA). Thanks to this, foreigners vaccinated with this drug were allowed to enter the country.

According to Kommersant, the permit is valid from January 17, 2022.

This is stated on the official website of the TGA. The organization notes that from now on, the Russian vaccine developed at the Gamaleya Center will be "recognized for the purposes of establishing the traveler's vaccination status".

The Australian authorities hope that thanks to this measure, foreign students, workers, travelers, businessmen and elite athletes will be able to return to the country.

To date, the Russian "Sputnik V" is officially recognized in many countries, but still does not have official approval from the World Health Organization (WHO), which closes Russia's full access to the international market for anti-covid vaccines, which has a large capacity.

Some experts believe that the delays in the recognition of the Russian vaccine at the WHO level are not technical, but political.

Earlier, due to the lack of vaccination against covid, tennis player Novak Djokovic could not enter the prestigious tournament in Australia. The first racket of the world was deported shortly before the start of the match. Now, instead of Djokovic, the Italian tennis player Salvatore Caruso will perform at the competition.
