With the onset of winter cold, the Belarusian authorities began to solve the problem of accommodating illegal migrants from the Middle East, who entered the country on tourist visas in the hope of crossing the Belarusian-Polish border and entering the EU.

“The Belarusian authorities have organized accommodation and meals for women and children from among migrants trying to cross the border with Poland”, - Kommersant notes.

From camping forest tents, where people who were not used to the cold climate were sick and cold, the refugees were transported to a warehouse located about 1.5 km from the Polish border.

The Belarusian authorities are ready to accommodate all migrants in a giant warehouse and keep them there "until the issue is resolved".

So far, most migrants remain at the border line. However, the authorities of the Grodno region have promised that the migrants will be delivered to a warehouse, where wishes for their future fate will be “recorded”. Teams of doctors will be sent to the hangar to examine the refugees. Those who have an elevated temperature are isolated in a separate place in the logistics center.

Let us remind you that the migration crisis in Belarus erupted this summer, when the Belarusian authorities relaxed the visa regime for economic refugees from the Middle East, providing them with a "green corridor" on the territory of the country for illegal entry into the EU. Outraged by the unprecedented influx of illegal migrants, the authorities of Poland, Latvia and Lithuania began to build barbed wire fences on the border. However, aggressively-minded migrants began to storm the border barriers and broke through them several times.

On November 16, migrants again tried to break through the Polish-Belarusian border. To prevent the transition, the Polish security forces used tear gas, water cannons and stun grenades.

For provoking the migration crisis, the EU authorities announced the introduction of new economic sanctions against Belarus. At the same time, the United States stated that the migration crisis in the country was deliberately arranged by the Lukashenko regime in order to divert the attention of the world community from the redeployment of Russian troops towards the Ukrainian border. The Russian authorities, in turn, denied the US State Department's assumptions about the planned nature of the actions on the border.
