According to Dozhd *, during the research from June 2020 to August 2021, which involved 1421 people aged 18 to 70 years, experts observed changes in the level of antibodies (IgG) in patients carrying coronavirus of varying severity...

According to the results, in a mild form of coronavirus, up to 180 days from the moment of illness, an increase in the concentration of antibodies is observed in women, while in men, especially young men, the concentration of antibodies decreases after 90 days.

In moderate and severe forms, gender did not affect the results, but elderly patients had an increased level of immunoglobulins compared to younger patients.

“Men under 44 had about 40-50 relative units of class G antibodies, in the older age group - about 70 relative units; among young women - about 60-70, among women of the older age group - almost 120 units”, - the source reports.

The medical director of the Helix laboratory service Dmitry Denisov said that the older age group had an increased concentration of antibodies and a more pronounced reaction compared to young patients. According to him, this may be due to the fact that their immune systems met with more challenges throughout their lives.

Head of the First Department and Clinic. Academician N.S. Molchanova, the chief investigator of the project, Vladimir Salukhov, drew attention to the suppression of antibody production by testosterone.

Experts concluded that young men, six months after suffering a mild illness, should think about getting vaccinated because of the risks of re-infection. These studies also highlight the importance of vaccination for those who have been ill.

According to experts, after six months, the level of bodies remains minimal and is insufficient to protect a person from re-infection.
