At a meeting with the Minister of Health, the Prosecutor General and the Chairman of the State Security Committee, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko (pictured) declared the inadmissibility of corruption in medicine. This statement was made during a discussion of the detention of 35 orthopedic traumatologists.

The detained doctors are suspected of taking bribes and other crimes. Among them is the president's personal doctor, as Lukashenka himself said. According to the Pool of the First telegram channel , the president of the republic began the meeting with the philosophical question “How do wars start?”, giving an answer to it: “Any war is based on injustice and corruption”.

“I know the course of this operation very well: I controlled it. It didn't start today, it didn't start yesterday. I have warned the Minister of Health about this. But today 35 people [are detained]. And I’m sure (no one will dissuade me of this) that these are not all those who should sit next to them there”, - Lukashenko said (quoted by BelTA).

According to him, the detained doctors not only told patients “which imported orthopedic parts to insert into their bodies”, but also made money on this, receiving bribes from foreigners. The Belarusian leader noted that 650,000 euros were found at some of their homes.

“I know your requests to bail them. Not to forgive, but to take bail after they compensate for the huge damage to the state. Send them, according to your decision, to some structure for work. Naturally, by profession. It is sad that the attending "doctor of the President", who more than once examined the President, also got there. I am upset by this fact, but the law is the law - it is the same for everyone”, - the head of Belarus emphasized.

He also instructed the head of the Ministry of Health to go to the pre-trial detention center to decide what to do with the detainees, noting that "the head should be responsible for this".
