At the same time, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya stated that the situation in Belarus, where after August 9, despite the arrests and beatings, other forms of pressure, protests of many thousands are taking place, requires immediate international attention. “Peaceful protesters were illegally detained, beaten, raped, some of the protesters died,” she said, urging to urgently send a monitoring mission to the country to establish the facts of human rights violations.

Earlier Svetlana Tikhanovskaya stated that the Belarusian opposition is ready to provide the long-term leader of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, whose victory was officially announced this time, “security guarantees and even more” if he leaves the post peacefully. At the same time, according to Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, his departure is only a matter of time, since he no longer has a future as the leader of the country.
