The administration of the Kherson region has decided to hold a referendum on joining the region to Russia, said the head of the administration Vladimir Saldo.

- Dear residents of the Kherson region! Having considered the appeals of public organizations and residents of the region, the leadership of the administration of the Kherson region decided to hold a referendum on joining to the Russian Federation, the Balance telegram channel says.

He is confident that the Kremlin will accept the results of the referendum. Returning to the Russian Federation will secure the region, provide new opportunities for residents and become a triumph of historical justice.

- Based on the results of the referendum, I will personally appeal to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, so that it (the referendum - ed.) be legally approved as soon as possible. I'm sure this procedure won't take long," Saldo pointed out.

On September 19, the public chambers of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics appealed to the heads of Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik with a call for an urgent referendum on joining Russia as subjects.

Previously recognized as a foreign agent, Meduza* wrote that the Russian authorities allegedly postponed indefinitely the dates for holding referendums on the accession of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as parts of the Zaporozhye, Kharkiv and Kherson regions.

However, before that, the head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov said that the sooner referendums are held in the DPR, LPR and Russian-controlled Ukrainian territories, the better. In his opinion, in the current situation it would be “quite logical and justified” to join new regions even without holding referendums.
