The US leadership does not take at its own expense the negative statements made by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Western countries during the announcement of the message to the Federal Assembly, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.

In response to a request from journalists to comment on Putin's statements to the United States and the EU, made during a public speech on April 21, Psaki said that the White House "does not accept everything that President Putin says personally".

“We have thick skin”, - she said.

As the Dozhd TV channel clarifies, during his speech, Putin again turned to the book by writer Rudyard Kipling about Mowgli, which he quoted in his earlier speeches. In 2011, in one of his speeches, Putin, addressing the opposition, said: "Come to me, Banderlogs!", recalling the tribe of monkeys hypnotized by the boa constrictor Kaa from Mowgli by Rudyard Kipling.

This time, Putin, who confessed his love for Kipling "from childhood", compared Western countries to the jackal Tabaki.

“They cling to Russia here and there for no reason. Of course, all sorts of small Tobaccos are spinning around them as soon as around Sher Khan. Everything is like Kipling's. They moan in order to appease their sovereign”, - the head of state said.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov explained this passage by the fact that Putin "warned Sherkhan and stuck." However, Peskov did not specify who exactly the president meant by "sticky".

During his speech, Putin also said that Western countries should not cross the "so-called red line" in relations with Russia. This statement caused discontent on the part of Ukraine.

“I understood the message of President Putin as follows:“ We will cross your “red lines”, but you are not allowed to cross our “red lines”, and we will determine where our “red lines” are", - said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and suggested to the Western community as a punishment to disconnect Russia from the international system of transferring interbank payments SWIFT.
