Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said that after being released from Ukrainian captivity, ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Viktor Medvedchuk was sent to Russia.

The exchange of the Ukrainian oligarch Medvedchuk and 55 Russian soldiers for 205 Ukrainian soldiers and 10 foreign mercenaries became known yesterday. The exchange of prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine took place with the assistance of Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

“We sent him to Russia. We are resolutely continuing the process”, - RIA Novosti quotes Erdogan as saying.

Earlier on September 23, it became known that Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a telephone conversation with Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, expressed satisfaction with the transfer of prisoners of war.

The mutual exchange of prisoners from the Russian and Ukrainian sides, captured on the territory of Donbass, took place with the personal mediation of the prince. Earlier, a woman who fled from Ukraine to Russia applied to the Saudi prince to participate in the release and exchange of her husband for captured foreigners Medvedchuk's wife Oksana Marchenko . Observers, however, are not inclined to believe that now the prince will gain a reputation as a peacemaker: the authority of the heir to the throne in the world is extremely low due to suspicions of his involvement in the brutal murder and dismemberment of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
