Japan imposed sanctions against the Russian Federation, excluding the energy sector from them

Kishida clarified that we are talking about the freezing of capital, a ban on issuing visas to individuals and organizations, freezing the assets of financial organizations of the Russian Federation.

In addition, sanctions will affect the export of organizations associated with the military industry, the export of goods from the list collected on the basis of international agreements, semiconductors and other general purpose goods.

Earlier, on February 23, Kishida, in connection with the recognition of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, announced a ban on issuing visas to residents of the DPR and LPR, as well as on export-import operations and the placement of new sovereign debt and operations with it in Japan.

The day before, a number of countries announced sanctions against Russia. Thus, the United States limited Moscow's ability to do business in dollars, pounds and yen, and, like the UK, imposed sanctions against VTB. US President Joe Biden promised that he could impose sanctions personally on Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

The British Foreign Office announced a $66,800 limit on bank accounts for Russians and banned Russian banks from making payments in pounds and dollars. In addition, Britain has imposed sanctions against the Russian air carrier Aeroflot.
