Russian sailors rescued a ship from being captured by pirates in the Gulf of Guinea

The seamen of the Russian northern fleet - the crew of the vessel "Vice-Admiral Kulakov" - prevented the seizure of the container ship "Lucia", en route from Togo to Cameroon through the Gulf of Guinea.
According to the RF Ministry of Defense, unknown armed people on a high-speed boat tried to hijack the ship. After the container ship gave a distress signal, the Marines boarded and freed the crew. The pirates left the ship when a Ka-27PS helicopter with a Marine unit appeared and headed towards the coast at full speed in their boat. The anti-terror group inspected the container ship and freed the crew, who had to take refuge in the engine room.
On June 28, "Vice-Admiral Kulakov" left the main base of the Northern Fleet - Severomosrka, made business calls to Algeria, Syria and Cyprus.
