State Duma deputy Natalya Poklonskaya, who works as deputy chairman of the Duma committee on international affairs, will become Russia's ambassador to the Republic of Cape Verde, located on the Cape Verde Islands.

According to RBC, citing sources in the State Duma, the candidacy of Poklonskaya, who is switching to diplomatic work, may be approved in the very near future: the documents for her are already ready.

The publication notes that in order to agree on the candidacy of the ambassador, the President of the Russian Federation must receive the approval of both chambers of parliament. In addition, it is required to obtain consent from the host.

“Neither the presidential administration, nor United Russia, nor the leadership of Crimea, from which she was elected, did not want to see Poklonskaya in the next Duma of the next convocation because of her not quite systemic behavior and extravagant statements”, - the newspaper notes.

When discussing her further employment, Poklonskaya wished to get a diplomatic job.

The Republic of Cape Verde is a small state in West Africa that emerged from Portugal's dependence in the 1970s. The population of the republic, located on 18 islands, is about 560 thousand people.

Natalia Poklonskaya previously held the position of Prosecutor of Crimea, and in 2016 she was elected to the State Duma. There she headed the commission for the control of parliamentary income. However, she was stripped of this position in 2018 after Poklonskaya voted against the pension reform. Then Poklonskaya, who was studying at the diplomatic academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, moved to the committee on international affairs. She refused to participate in the elections to the State Duma, stating that she was preparing to move to a new job.

“She was uncomfortable in the Duma because she understood how to get involved in politics. Against the background of the entire gray mass, she was able to, because she spent almost her entire adult life in Ukraine and was literally inside the entire political struggle that was always in the country after the collapse of the USSR. Apparently, the Kremlin curators realized that in Russia people with such experience should not be allowed into politics. But then, for example, such a fossil as Tamara Pleteva and others like Yelena Drapeko will remain”, - journalist Kirill Shulika commented on Poklonskaya's departure from the State Duma.
