“In order to replenish gas reserves in European storage facilities by next winter, it will be necessary to pump in such significant volumes of gas that have never been pumped in one summer season. This is a very serious challenge, taking into account, among other things, the daily limits of download volumes, which are strictly limited by the technological capabilities of storage facilities. In addition, the total volume of gas available on the European market is highly dependent on demand in the growing Asian market", - Gazprom said (cited by Interfax).

Gas companies report that European UGSFs are 29.5% full. It is noted that in Germany, storage facilities were emptied by 70.6%, in France - by 77.1%. As of February 26, 21.5% less gas is stored in Europe than last year. 47 billion cubic meters have already been withdrawn, which is comparable to the volume of injection in the summer.

This information speaks of a historical minimum in gas storage facilities in Europe. As of February 26, storage occupancy is below the minimum by 0.6 billion cubic meters. m.

“Gazprom notes that gas extraction from European UGS facilities usually continues until the end of March - mid-April. Thus, now the selection will come from the volumes that were pumped into the storage facilities of Europe even earlier - in 2020 and previous years”, - Interfax reports.

As for Ukraine, the country's gas reserves are at the level of 10.3 billion cubic meters, which is 44% lower than last year. Previously, Gazprom has repeatedly announced the continuation of gas pumping through Ukraine, despite the conduct of a military special operation of the Russian Federation. It should be noted that the crisis affected the price of blue fuel. Gas prices at auctions in Europe soared by 35% - more than $1,450 per thousand cubic meters. Earlier, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev promised the Europeans gas at 2,000 euros against the backdrop of new economic sanctions.
