“I will sell the AK-47 to the first caller”: arms sales began in Ukrainian social networks

As follows from the ads posted on social networks, residents of Ukraine offer automatic weapons for sale. For an AK-47 and 1,080 cartridges for it, merchants are asking for 50,000 hryvnias (about 139,000 rubles at the rate of February 26).

At the same time, in some Ukrainian cities footage of indiscriminate shooting in the streets, not related to the conduct of hostilities, began to circulate.

The distribution of weapons to citizens of Ukraine began on February 24. On this day, the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic, Oleksiy Reznikov, said that the authorities were ready to provide weapons to those Ukrainians who could help the army. The head of the department pointed out that everyone who wants to get weapons should apply with a passport to the brigades of the territorial defense forces.

On February 25, ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko appeared on CNN with a Kalashnikov assault rifle. He stated that "this is his help". The Ukrainian politician said that there were more than 300 members of the territorial defense next to him, specifying that they also had two machine guns at their disposal.

Recall that earlier on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special operation in the Donbass. The President called on the Ukrainian military to refuse to carry out the criminal orders of the leadership and lay down their arms.
