A car of the Russian Embassy in the Afghan capital of Kabul on an improvised explosive device. The diplomatic staff received a light concussion.

“An improvised explosive device was detonated on the way near the complex of the Russian embassy in Kabul”, - said Maria Zakharova, spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry.

According to preliminary estimates, the attack was being prepared against members of the Afghan National Security Forces, and their pickup was to explode. At the same time, the Foreign Ministry does not rule out that the terrorist attack could have been directed against the Russians as well. According to Nikita Ishchenko, press secretary of the Russian Embassy in Afghanistan, the car received "significant damage."

“At the moment, an investigation is underway to determine whether the terrorist attack was directed against the Russian diplomatic personnel”, - RIA Novosti quotes a representative of the diplomatic mission, specifying that the victims did not require hospitalization.

For her part, Zakharova sent Kabul a demand to conduct a "thorough investigation of the incident", as well as to take "comprehensive measures to ensure the safety of personnel of Russian missions abroad in Afghanistan".

"The Russian Embassy in Kabul is implementing additional measures aimed at increasing the degree of protection of the personnel and facilities of the diplomatic mission", - said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
