Two civilians were injured in Dzhankoysky district in Crimea due to the detonation of ammunition, said the head of the republic, Sergei Aksyonov.

According to Aksyonov, the lives of the wounded are out of danger.

According to RIA Novosti with reference to the data of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, an explosion and a fire at a fenced ammunition storage area occurred near the village of Maiskoye in Crimea.

"Measures are being taken to extinguish the fire and find out the causes of the fire," the statement said.

After the emergency, about 2,000 residents had to be urgently evacuated from Mayskoye, now the evacuation continues, a cordon has been established in the five-kilometer zone.

It is known that two victims from among the civilian population due to the explosions were diagnosed with injuries. One had shrapnel wounds, the other was crushed by the wall.

According to Interfax , one of the victims was hospitalized in a state of moderate severity. Doctors rendered assistance to the second on an outpatient basis, he received minor injuries.

At 9:18 Moscow time, Aksyonov wrote on Telegram that the explosions of ammunition continue, people are being taken out of the nearest houses beyond a five-kilometer diameter.
