The Chairman of the State Council of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, was awarded a jubilee medal "75 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945".

This is a recognition for his great personal contribution to perpetuating the memory of Soviet citizens who died and were buried in the territory of the DPRK and concern for the safety of Soviet graves and memorials in the Republic.

Today, May 5, at the Palace of Congresses of Mansude, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Alexander Macegora, solemnly handed over the medal to the DPRK Foreign Minister Lee Song Gwon, the Russian Embassy in the DPRK reports on its Facebook.

After the award was handed over, a brief conversation took place between the politicians, during which the spirit of continuing active efforts to consistently implement the agreements of the heads of the two countries was confirmed. These agreements were reached last April in Vladivostok. They are aimed at developing and strengthening cooperation between Russia and North Korea.

Recall that recently the world media reported a serious illness and even the death of a North Korean leader. However, on May 1, photographs were taken in which healthy and sprightly Kim Jong-un was captured on the podium at the opening ceremony of the plant.

This was the first appearance of Kim Jong-un in public since April 12.

We note that the medal "75 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" was established by the Decree of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on June 13, 2019. It is awarded to WWII veterans and other persons, in accordance with the Regulation on the medal. The first medal was awarded on January 18 in St. Petersburg. The medal was awarded to four veterans. On February 4, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu presented the medal to Marshal of the Soviet Union Dmitry Yazov.
